ALL
TALENTS ARE DWARFED
WITHOUT DISCIPLINE
I know a lot of people
who claim they cannot
draw. I will argue that
after many hard months
of practice, they will
change their claim. They
say we are either
left-brained or
right-brained, and some
of us are a
little of both.
Creativity is becoming
better connected with
the right side,
which begins with
acknowledging that this
portion of all of our
minds is
active, and functioning.
We just need to learn
how to use it. Drawing,
photography, perspective
sketching are all
enhanced by learning how
see
the world in a new way.
Perfect for Christians;
an activity that gives
us
perspective. Oh, and it
takes daily practice and
diligence.
My class will
require a sketchbook, a
pen (no pencils) and an
open mind. Hopefully we
are a few lectures away
from doodling our last
curly flowers in the
margins, and ready to
use sketching as a
powerful communication
tool.
I can offer techniques
and skills to change
even the most hopeless
artist into a confident
illustrator. My aim is a
bit deeper though; I
want
to teach people how to
see, more than how to
draw. It begins with the
eye, and we will work
toward the hand. I will
need a room at the
church,
hopefully one with a
whiteboard.
